5. Make temporary repairs. If your home is damaged, make repairs necessary to keep protected your family and your home for possible hazards. These damages must always be covered by insurance.

6. Do not make permanent repairs until you have been visited by the assessor of damages. If you have made temporary repairs, always save a copy of all receipts and invoices.

7. Before and after making a complaint documenting everything. Save all receipts for materials you purchased. This measure will help conduct an inventory when it is necessary to have one.
